Stampin Up! + Kids = Christmas joy for our heroes!
December 12th, 2007A few weeks ago I got a wonderful email from a Stampin Up! demonstrator, Mindy, who was making cards. Lots of cards. Cards destined for heroes serving abroad! She was looking for military contacts to send them to, and she found her way to us.
Mindy was having the students at her children’s schools in Pennsylvania write out Christmas cards for soldiers - and the event would be happening the week she sent that email. Yep, not much notice, this was a last minute project, but one clearly aimed for success. Mindy made all the cards herself, and she just loved it! “I’m really having fun with this even though it’s very stressful doing it at the last minute,” said Mindy. “I’m having an open house tomorrow, but have done NOTHING since I’m constantly making cards!”

We sent Mindy mailing information for three of our contacts, and she took care of the rest. She made 300 cards - yes, 300! - then teachers at the schools coordinated the signing. The yearbook staff at one of the schools snapped photos and assembled this wonderful collage of the students’ signing events.

On November 28th, Mindy shipped out 285 Christmas cards from kids to contacts in both Iraq and Afghanistan. “I will definitely send them your best wishes,” said Mindy. “Thanks again!”
Just imagine the smiles on the faces of those heroes, far from home, far from their own kids, their little brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Receiving a thank-you from such wonderful young people just has to bless their hearts this Christmas season!
Thank you so much to Mindy and everyone else involved — you gave our troops a huge morale boost and a Christmas gift they will never forget!
