Pam: Here's to you!

For those who have been wondering about how this wonderful site came to be . . .
The whole project was begun with a simple post on the Two Peas in a bucket stamping message board; the organization of it was primarily there for the first couple of months. (Click here if you’re a history buff and want to read the 500 posts there!) Shannon and Diane were both sending cards too, and that message board thread was our base of organizing. Many began sending us cards from their stash, making cards especially for the project, making cards for injured heroes for Operation Quiet Comfort. It just kept growing.
In July I began a blog, partly to document a trip I took, and partly to have another forum for recruiting cardmakers to help. The cards flowed in for months and months, and though I posted often on my own blog about “my soldier cards,” I also posted on many other random subjects, and began to realise I should create a site just for the heroes project and condense the information in an organized way, and make it all easier on everyone. Another blog seemed about all I could think to do without taking too much time away from actually making and shipping cards. I could handle a blog. It wasn’t optimal but was all I would be able to do.
I mentioned this thought to one person. Pam.
I received a response from her in “peamail” (the email system used on Two Peas), and sat at my computer in tears as I read it. I now wish I’d saved it, but from what I recall, it was a simple offer: “I’d like to build and host a site for the project.”
That could not have been more of an answer to my silent prayer! Her skills, her ability to host, her savvy about what a site should be—these were all invaluable gifts to me! She allowed me to give the site a “look,” and then she ran with that and implemented the pages you’re looking at right now.
I could not be more grateful for Pam’s patience, help, and advice, not to mention the hours of labor and dedication she put into this project. Many of you have emailed me to tell me your excited thoughts about our site launch; please post feedback below so that Pam can hear your comments too!
Pam, here’s to you, my friend.
The box at the top of this post was made especially for Pam, and was sent to her amid the heavy labor during site development. It was once filled with homemade fudge — but I’m pretty sure it’s empty by now.
